Instead, he must acknowledge the firstborn, the son of his unloved wife, by giving him a double portion of all that he has. For that son is the firstfruits of his father’s strength; the right of the firstborn belongs to him.

16 então será, no dia em que ele fizer herdar seus filhos o que ele tem, que ele não poderá dar ao filho da amada os direitos do primogênito antes do filho da odiada, que é o primogênito;

17 mas ele deve reconhecer o primogênito, o filho do odiado, dando-lhe uma porção dupla de tudo o que ele tem; pois ele é o começo de sua força. O direito do primogênito é dele.

18 Se um homem tem um filho teimoso e rebelde que não obedecerá à voz de seu pai ou à voz de sua mãe, e embora o castiguem, não os ouvirá,

19 então seu pai e sua mãe se apoderarão dele e o levarão aos anciãos de sua cidade e ao portão de seu lugar.

20 Eles dirão aos anciãos de sua cidade: “Este nosso filho é teimoso e rebelde”. Ele não obedecerá à nossa voz”. Ele é um glutão e um bêbado”.
