Though he was often bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and shattered the shackles. Now there was no one with the strength to subdue him.

5 E di continuo, notte e giorno, fra i sepolcri e su per i monti, andava urlando e percotendosi con delle pietre.

6 Or quand’ebbe veduto Gesù da lontano, corse e gli si prostrò dinanzi;

7 e dato un gran grido, disse: Che v’è fra me e te, o Gesù, Figliuolo dell’Iddio altissimo? Io ti scongiuro, in nome di Dio, di non tormentarmi;
