Prayer 7 of 35 · Psalm 35:1–28
The prayer of someone who did good and got slander for it — 'they rewarded me evil for good.' David reminds God that he fasted and mourned for these same people when they were sick. It is long. Pray the whole thing; the length is part of the medicine.
Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me; fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. Let them be confounded that seek after my soul; let them be turned back that devise my hurt. They rewarded me evil for good — but I will not repay it in kind, for vengeance is Yours. Let Your angel drive away every pursuit set against me. Let the net they hid catch themselves. And when You have delivered me, my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness all the day long. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Once daily, aloud, until vindication comes.
