Prayer 13 of 35 · Psalm 46:1–11 · Psalm 103:1–5
Psalm 46 is for a body under siege, and its instruction is the hardest one in scripture to obey in a hospital chair: 'Be still, and know that I am God.' Psalm 103 then lists what He does, in order: forgiveth all thine iniquities, healeth all thy diseases. The forgiveness comes first. That order is not accidental.
God, You are my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble — present now, in this body, in this diagnosis, in this waiting. I bless You with all that is within me, and I will not forget Your benefits: You forgive all my iniquities and You heal all my diseases. Forgive me first, and cleanse what needs cleansing. Then send Your word and heal me. Strengthen every weak place, restore every failing system, guide the hands of every physician, and let every treatment do only what it is meant to do. Renew my youth like the eagle's. I will be still and know that You are God. In the name of Jesus, by whose stripes I am healed. Amen.
Morning and night through the illness. Have someone pray it over you when you cannot.
