Prayer 3 of 35 · Psalm 7:1–2, 6, 9–17
Psalm 7 is a court case. David does not ask God to be angry on his behalf — he asks God to examine him first. That is boldness available only to someone who has dealt with their own heart. Then the hinge: the wicked man 'is fallen into the ditch which he made.'
O LORD my God, in You I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me. Arise in Your anger against the rage of my enemies, and awake for me to the judgment You have commanded. Search me first — if there is iniquity in my hands, expose it and cleanse it, for I will not fight from unclean ground. Then let the mischief prepared for me return upon the head of the one who prepared it. Let the trench dug for my feet receive the digger. Establish the just, O righteous God who tries the hearts and reins. I will praise You according to Your righteousness. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Once daily until the matter is resolved.
