Prayer 33 of 35 · Psalm 25:4–5, 12 · Psalm 32:8 · James 1:5

For Wisdom in a Major Decision

'What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.' The promise is not that God announces the answer — it is that He teaches in the choosing. Psalm 32:8 adds 'I will guide thee with mine eye,' which requires you to be looking at Him.

The prayer

Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. I have a decision in front of me and I do not want to force it. Instruct me in the way I should go; guide me with Your eye. Quiet the voices of pressure, fear, and other people's expectations so I can hear Yours. If any of us lack wisdom, You give liberally and without reproach — so I am asking. Give me peace on the right path and unrest on the wrong one. In Jesus' name. Amen.
