Prayer 27 of 35 · Psalm 34:18 · Psalm 116:1–9 · Psalm 23:4
'The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.' Not 'will be.' Is. Grief does not need a lesson; it needs a presence, and scripture supplies one without explaining the loss away.
Lord, You are near to the broken-hearted and You save such as be of a contrite spirit. I am not asking You to explain this. I am asking You to stay. Walk with me through this valley and do not let me walk it numb or alone. Precious in Your sight is the death of Your saints — hold what I have lost, and hold me. Let me grieve without losing my faith, and let joy find me again when it is time. In Jesus' name. Amen.
