Prayer 18 of 35 · Psalm 99:1–9 · Psalm 75:6–7
Psalm 99 is about who actually sits above the organisational chart — 'The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble.' Read it before a performance review and the room changes size. Psalm 75 then removes the anxiety entirely: promotion comes neither from east nor west, but God is the judge.
LORD, You reign; You are high above all people. I acknowledge that promotion comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south — You are the judge, and You put down one and set up another. Make me excellent at the work in front of me, so that when the door opens I am not found unprepared. Let my work speak before I do. Give me favour with my superiors and peace with my colleagues. Where I have been overlooked, bring my name into the room. Where I have been undervalued, let the value become undeniable. And keep me humble in the elevation, remembering who set me up. In Jesus' name. Amen.
