Prayer 29 of 35 · Psalm 40:1–4 · Psalm 107:13–16 · Romans 6:6–7
'He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock.' Miry clay is the exact description — not a wall you can climb, but ground that will not hold you. The answer is not effort. It is being lifted, then set somewhere that holds.
Lord, I waited patiently and You inclined unto me. Bring me up out of this pit and out of this miry clay. I renounce every agreement I have made with this thing. Break the gates of brass and cut the bars of iron in pieces. Set my feet upon the rock and establish my goings. Give me one clean day, and then another. Send me people who will tell me the truth and stay. In the name of Jesus, who set me free from the body of sin. Amen.
Every morning, and in the hour of craving.
