For a Nation in Crisis
'If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray...' The condition is placed on the church, not on the government — which is both more demanding and more hopeful than most political prayer.
Lord, blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. We humble ourselves, we seek Your face, and we turn from our wicked ways — beginning with Your own people, beginning with me. Heal our land. Give wisdom to those in authority whether or not they acknowledge You, restrain evil, and protect the vulnerable. Let mercy and truth meet together; let righteousness and peace kiss each other. Revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
