Prayer 19 of 35 · Psalm 123:1–4 · Proverbs 18:22 · Proverbs 31:10–12
Psalm 123 is the psalm of waiting well — 'as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters.' That is the whole discipline of singleness: eyes on the hand, not on the clock. Proverbs supplies the outcome. Waiting is not wasted time; it is the time in which you become findable.
LORD, unto You I lift up my eyes, as the eyes of a servant to the hand of their master — and I will keep them there until You have mercy on me. I ask for a spouse after Your own heart: one who loves You more than they love me, whose character holds when no one is watching, and with whom I can build something that outlasts us both. Guard me from loneliness that makes bad decisions and from impatience that settles. Make me, in this waiting, into the person that person is praying for. Prepare us for each other and bring us together in Your time, not mine. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Weekly. Do not pray it daily — that feeds the anxiety it is meant to cure.
