Prayer points

A decision I have to make

Two roads, and a deadline

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Isaiah 30:21 · King James Version

Father, I have to choose, and I am afraid of getting it wrong. Speak.

The prayer points

1. James 1:5

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not.

James 1:5

You give wisdom without scolding me for needing it. I am asking plainly.

2. Proverbs 3:5-6

Lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Where my own reasoning has become the loudest voice, quiet it.

3. Psalm 25:9

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

Psalm 25:9

Make me willing before I ask to be shown. Let me be genuinely open to either answer.

4. Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts.

Colossians 3:15

Let peace be the umpire. Where there is agitation dressed as excitement, expose it.

5. Proverbs 11:14

In the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Proverbs 11:14

Send me two or three wise people, and give me the humility to actually listen to what they say.

6. Isaiah 30:21

Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it.

Isaiah 30:21

And when I have decided — confirm it, or stop me, before it is too late to turn.

Declarations

Say these out loud. Not to convince God — to remind yourself what is true when your feelings are arguing.

Lord, I would rather be in the hard right place than the comfortable wrong one.

Pray, and also act. Pray, and also do the work. Write both options out in full, including the cost of each. Ask three wise people separately. Set a decision date — indecision is itself a decision, usually the worse one.
