Churches
African Independent Churches
Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and the diaspora.
What it is
Churches founded in Africa independently of Western missions — including Aladura, Celestial, Zion and Kimbanguist traditions. Great variety in doctrine and practice.
What to listen for
Great variety, so ask carefully. Where any practice is drawn from outside Scripture, weigh it by Scripture.
A label tells you the tradition, not the church. Two congregations under the same name can be entirely different. Visit the one on your road and put it through the questions from Scripture.
