Sowing in Tears Is Still Sowing

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalm 126:5–6 · KJV

The psalm does not promise that the sowing will feel good. It concedes the tears and then makes a claim about the harvest anyway.

Sowing in tears is the hardest kind of obedience because nothing about it looks productive. You are putting good seed into the ground and walking away from it, and the ground gives no receipt. That is true whether you are praying for a child who is far away, giving out of a thin month, or serving in a season when nobody is thanking you.

'Doubtless' is the word to hold. Not maybe. Not if the conditions improve. The return is not conditional on the emotional state of the sower.

Today's step

Do one act of faithful sowing today with no expectation of a visible result — a gift, a prayer, a service nobody will see.

Pray

Lord, I am sowing in a season where I feel more like weeping than believing. I bring the seed anyway. Let nothing I have given in tears be wasted. Bring me back with rejoicing, carrying what You promised. In Jesus' name, Amen.
