Luke 15
A young man asked for his share of the family money, left home, and spent every coin. When it ran out he was so hungry he wanted to eat the pigs' food. So he practised a speech — 'Father, I am sorry, I am not good enough to be your son' — and started walking home. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him. Which means his father had been watching the road. And the old man ran — ran! — and hugged him before he could finish the speech.
What does it mean that the father was already watching the road?
When he was yet a great way off, his father saw him.
