Is it wrong to be wealthy or to want a better life?

Wealth is not the sin; the love of it is, and so is trusting it. Abraham, Job and Lydia were all wealthy and all commended. The warnings are about what money does to the heart: it makes you feel safe, it makes you feel superior, and it eats the time you would have given to God and people. The test is not the size of the number but whether you can open your hand, and whether you would still be at peace if it were gone.

Go and see for yourself

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

1 Timothy 6:10

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

1 Timothy 6:17

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
