How do I love an enemy?
Begin where it is possible rather than where it is impossible: pray for them by name. It is very hard to keep hating a person you are genuinely asking God to bless, which may be part of why the command is given in that form. Loving an enemy does not mean trusting them, staying within reach of harm, or dropping a legitimate case. It means refusing to want their ruin.
