Hell is presented in Scripture not as God losing His temper but as the final ratification of a choice — He gives people, at last, what they insisted on: existence without Him. Jesus, the gentlest figure in the book, speaks about it more than anyone else, which should stop us treating it as a late invention. Christians differ over the imagery and the duration. None of that alters what you actually do with the information, which is to go through the door that is standing open.
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Matthew 25:46

2 Peter 3:9
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
