Does science contradict the Bible?
The two questions are usually different questions. Science asks how the mechanism works; Scripture tells you whose it is and what it is for, and those are not competitors. On Genesis specifically, Christians who hold Scripture to be entirely true divide between young-earth, old-earth and framework readings of the days, and have done since long before Darwin — Augustine was arguing about it in the fourth century. What is not optional is that God created deliberately, that humanity is made in His image, and that the universe is not an accident.
