It is worth knowing what is actually being claimed. The New Testament survives in thousands of Greek manuscripts, some within a few generations of the events, far more and far earlier than any other document of the ancient world — which is why its text can be reconstructed with a confidence classical historians envy. It names real rulers, cities and customs that archaeology keeps confirming. Apparent contradictions are worth examining one at a time rather than in a heap; most turn out to be different witnesses reporting different details, which is what honest testimony looks like.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Timothy 3:16
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
2 Peter 1:21
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Isaiah 40:8
