Are demons real, and how do I stand against them?
Scripture treats them as real and as defeated, and holds both together. The armour in Ephesians is instructive for what it contains: truth, righteousness, the gospel, faith, salvation, the word, and prayer — nothing exotic, and almost all of it defensive and ordinary. Resist, and he flees. Do not go looking for demons behind every difficulty; most temptation comes from a heart that wants what it should not want, and Scripture says so.
Go and see for yourself
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
James 1:14
